powerful stories of empowered Birthing people

There is strength in birth that is unparalleled in this world. There are countless ways to birth, all of which are beautiful. All of which are hard. And all of which deserve to be documented.

“Christine’s energy is very calm and relaxing. There were times when I didn’t even realize she was in the room capturing images. The word 'amazing' does not even do the images justice. I know how I felt at that very moment of his birth and I know in my mind what it was to see him for the first time. However, to be able to have those images forever and to be able to share them with family, and in the future with our son, is priceless. Christine is a true gem.”

About documentary birth photography

01 Your Consultation

We meet and I learn about you, your family and your pregnancy to date. You learn about me and we make sure we’re a good fit. We also discuss the logistics of having a photographer present during this special time. We meet again during your third trimester, review the coordination of having me at your birth, and discuss any last-minute details.

02 Your Birth

I provide photography coverage during your labor, birth and postpartum - no matter how long your labor. Typically, I am on-call for your birth at 38 weeks. You (or your partner or support person) keeps in touch with me starting at the first signs of labor. I am present from active labor, through your your birth, and up to one-and-a-half hours postpartum. I recognize that it is an honor to be in your birth space and I'm deliberate about working around your birth team, in order not to interrupt events as they unfold.

03 After Your Birth

Once your gallery is completed, I come to your home for your ordering appointment. We first view your photos in a slideshow, and you relive your story and your birth through my lens. For most birthing people, much of the labor and birth journey feels surreal. To view that experience from a different perspective is priceless. Then together we select your favorite images and create a true piece of art. This may be an album or a gallery wall of fine art prints. I'm present to help you choose which images may work best as wall art and where you may want to display them in your home. In the end, you have pieces of beautiful art, lasting heirlooms, and a visual record of one of the most important moments in your life.
